ECO PRINT

Finding Inspiration in The Nature

I teach workshops in nature, we travel and collect flowers, leaves and vegetation creating paper with them, and special prints. The preparation process includes choosing a scale of colors, cooking with pigments, soaking in rust water. After that we use tham in art a journey or painting with water color

Finding Inspiration in The Nature

  • Eco-printing combines the historic methods used in natural dying with contemporary contact print techniques. The results are stunning plant portraits captured on paper.

Plant material is placed between layers of paper then steamed or boiled to transfer the pigment in the plants to the paper. We try synthetic dyes, inks or paints are used.

  •  Experiment with a variety of papers including – printmaking & watercolor paper, deli paper, and garden book pages.

  • Make prints using onion skins and a variety of different plant materials.

  • Try two techniques for making paper bundles: layering cut and folded sheets and rolling long strips.

  • Work with two methods of heating: steaming and simmering in water. This is where the magic of pigment to paper transfer happens!

  • Discuss safety procedures and the sustainable practice of foraging and gathering plant material.

Your finished eco prints can be used for making books, journals, cards, tags, scrolls, collages, as a foundation for stitching and drawing
No experience necessary. All tools, supplies and plant material will be provided
